Ellie & Ed’s Sagaponack Wedding

When we headed into Ellie & Ed’s wedding we didn’t know much about them. Ellie and I had spoken on the phone and exchanged a few emails but had never met in person. As we walked up the steps to the house the door flew open and this beautiful woman with a smile like the sun ran out and gave me a huge hug!  “Hi!  I’m Ellie!!”  From there on out the rest of the day felt like we had all known each other for years!

Ellie & Ed’s wedding was a perfect example of family and friends coming together to create an intimate wedding that was incredibly beautiful, with so many heartfelt touches. You will see so much love and happiness across the faces of these families in the photographs!

Ellie got ready in this stunning modern home!  This is also the location of the reception and you will see in later images how great it was for the party!Ellie’s dress was perfection, a vintage Vera Wang that was not only stunning on her but matched the essence of the day so well. Mom making sure every last detail was perfect! Ellie’s hair and make up was expertly done by Pam Geiger. The views on the property were like out of a storybook.  Blue skies, fall colored leaves, a rolling lawn and yes- even a Swan!Ellie was a little camera shy, I knew it from the first few clicks.  I knew it because she reminded me of how I feel in front of cameras! I told her all she had to do was stand in the sun and look at the amazing view.  I love this image of her, so peaceful. As I was trying to navigate around Ellie, Mom was in the background beside herself gushing with happiness! Finally little sister Carlie to the rescue! She came and gave Ellie big hugs and the two erupted into laughter! The men got ready down the road in a beautiful more traditional Hampton’s house. It was old-school style all around with Grandpa making sure his Grandson’s bow tie was perfect!Amongst all the guys from all the generations, Ed got ready too!  Ed completed his outfit with 2 different cufflinks. For the wedding he received two sets of cufflinks, the vintage coin from his best friend Matt and the tree from his soon to be sister-in-law Carlie. Being the big-hearted guy that he is, he wore one of each!St. Thomas Chapel, a quaint little chapel built in 1907!Since the groom always gets to the church early and the bride always gets to the church late, there is generally some downtime. The ring bearers and the flower girls lined up in a perfect row to get their picture taken. They were dressed so adorably even down to their shoes! And thankfully after that there was still time for some “Photo Bombing!” For those that do not know, “Photo Bombing” is the fine art of ruining other peoples photos, in a good way!

Finally it was time to start and the ushers waited attentively.Ellie and Carlie.  These two are amazing, so close-such a special sister bond. Ellie is escorted done the aisle by her father. That smile, I just love it!!

Ed and Ellie’s parents watching with full hearts and tears in their eyes. Even the little ones were paying attention!Married! After the ceremony Ellie and Ed accompanied by Carlie and Matt took off to the beach for some pictures.  This was the first beach Ellie and Ed visited years ago when they first came to the Hamptons.  It was February then and the surf shack was draped in snow. Adoring the shack they took tons of pictures of it.  Who knew that one day they would be returning to this beach, this shack, for their wedding pictures! Ellie’s elegant bouquet of white roses perfectly wrapped in burlap created by Wittendales Florist.Always laughing-always smiling!  Their happiness is wonderful to be around. There is just something about a surf shack!  Back at the house, the cocktail party was under way.  The trail of lanterns and driftwood that lead you from the house to the tent was such a creative touch.Ed’s father created this sketch for Ellie & Ed’s wedding then Ellie’s friend Sarah Barten turned it into a logo!  One of many collaborations for the wedding! This is  the tree that is also on Ed’s cufflink!  My new favorite image!  If I could write the rules of weddings I would ALWAYS have kids there! Kid-free weddings are missing out on all the fun!And giggles!  Look at these two angels! It just doesn’t get any cuter than little kids at weddings. The sun was starting to set and it was time to head down into the tent for the party.Greeting you at the entrance was a post with 23 different locations representing where everyone had come from! Created with love by Ellie, Ed’s Dad, the aunts, the uncles and cousins! This is hands down the most unique and beautiful escort table I have ever seen!  At the top of the table was a cutout from an Ann Landers column on the rules of a happy marriage. My favorite is #9, never meet without an affectionate welcome!  To read the rules more clearly click here. Ellie and Ed started off the evening by welcoming the guests and by of course, erupting in laughter!  Their laughter was so contagious that it had everyone else laughing too!Carlie was next with a beautiful toast discussing not only Ellie and Ed’s affection for one another but her affection and appreciation of them. She brought tears to everyone’s eyes and then had everyone cracking up too- just like Ellie and Ed!Next up was Ed’s brother Joe who started off by warning everyone that no one should ever give a microphone to a trial attorney!  In true lawyer form, his toast was on the longer side but it flowed so perfectly as he paced the room bringing your attention to the different relationships on his side of the family. Stopping perfectly at his parents who have been an incredible example of marriage.  What’s extra special about Ed’s parents is that it was their wedding anniversary! 56 years of marriage!  How wonderful for Ed to have the same wedding date as his parents! While every adult in the room has hanging on Joe’s every word.. the kids had their own agenda!Ellie and Ed then had their first dance and were joined by family. All while a slideshow of both families was projected onto the tent ceiling. The dancing trickled off as everyone focused their attention to the images on the ceiling. I love this special moment between Ellie’s and Ed’s parents as they stand next to each other recalling the years, the love, the children- their lives. Such a fantastic idea that was enjoyed by all. Night-time was upon us and everything looked so enchanting being lit up by candlelight. The food was a spectacular arrangement of local farm fresh foods created by chef Peter Ambrose.I now know from being a Mom to a little boy that they don’t hug very often but when they do its so so special! The dashing ushers in their bow ties!Old roommates displaying their house number! 1803!Candy, cookies and home maid pies!  Everyone was in heaven! As the dancing started thanks to Beat Train Productions,  it was evident that Ed was going to rule the dance floor!Thank you Carly Rea Jepsen for creating the catchy song, Call Me Maybe, that had everyone making calls!Ellie and Ed your wedding was such a beautiful celebration not only of you two but also your families and friends. Love and laughter was every where you turned and we were honored to be there to capture it in photographs for you! Congratulations!
