Mary & Brian’s Wedding

For those of you that may have missed seeing their engagement pictures that ranged from the laundry mat to a dive bar, you can check them out here!

Mary and Brian got married in the fall of 2010 in New York City. The inspiration for the wedding’s theme came from the library at the Yale Club where Mary and Brian had their reception.  Mary fell in love with the vintage books and ran with the theme for the whole wedding- from the invitations to table decorations.  The result?  A unique and creative wedding that had everyone impressed!

Mary & Brian’s telegram rehearsal dinner invitation was created by Lucky Duck Press.

The wedding invitation was created by Invited Ink.

My favorite, a map of the venues and points of interest for guests created by Your Wedding Artist!

In order for Mary to get to the church, she and her crew walked through Grand Central Terminal!  It was a real NYC moment as people congratulated her as she meandered her way though the crowds! Mary wore a gorgeous Amsale gown.

Brian was very close to being stood up at the alter when a construction worker attempted to steal Mary away!

I love this quiet moment Greg captured of Mary & her Father as they wait to walk down the aisle.

There are so many moments that happen very quickly at the beginning of a ceremony. Most of them are expected; the bride and her escort down the aisle, the groom’s reaction to the bride, and the emotional images of the family.  One of my favorites is the moment when the bride and then groom are a few seconds past the nerve racking part of seeing each other for the first time and can really look at each other and laugh and smile as they are about to be married.

Married!

Mary and Brian had an adventurous bridal party- they were even willing to stop some of the busiest traffic in all of NYC to get this fun bridal party picture!

This picture to me really sums up Mary & Brian.  One of them is always making the other crack up and the camera loves it!

True to the style of Mary and Brian, even when it came time for portraits they wanted to do something out of the box. It doesn’t get more out of the box than this!  After asking the shoe shine man nicely (meaning giving him money) he stepped away and let us have a little photo shoot at his station!  Brides out there past and present- how awesome is Mary for picking up her gorgeous white dress and just climbing up on this shoe shine!?  There was shoe polish everywhere! When I warned her she looked at me and said, “when am I ever going to wear this dress again?”  Mary you are my kind of bride!  The best part, she climbed down and we carried on with our fun and the dress remained spotless!

I photographed Mary’s bouquet, created by Kea Morgan of Sweet & Flower on the card catalogue.  Remember the dewey decimal system everyone?

Cleverly Mary even tied in the library theme to the  seating cards.

Instead of flowers on the table, Mary collect vintage books that she wrapped in blue ribbon and topped off with a little frame showcasing the table number.  Classically beautiful and such a refreshing change to the ho hum of table centerpieces!

The toasts ranged from moving to hysterical!  Great job done by Mary’s father and sister and Brian’s brother.

We are always grateful when a venue has a balcony for the different perspectives it can offer.  I love how this photograph has so much going on…can you see Brian and Mary?

Congratulations Mary & Brian!  It was such a privilege to be a part of such a fun and inspiring day!
