It is such a privilege to be allowed into people’s personal lives as your job. I felt extra privileged with this job as I was documenting a family’s religious tradition, the making of the Gefilte fish for Passover.
I am sure many families that are Jewish prepare the Gefilte Fish for Passover every year, but what was extra special about this situation is that the fish was being prepared by GG, a 101 year young whipper snapper! GG has been preparing the fish every year since she was a little girl with her mother, and now she is preparing it with her daughter, her granddaughter and her two great grandsons!Every year special cookware just for Passover is brought out and used. This pot still has its label on it from long ago!GG skillfully prepped the fish……while someone waited patiently for GG to drop some, not a chance!Caleb takes his bottle while his great grandmother cooks- there is a 100 year age difference between these two- Amazing!!!Hayden looks on with great anticipation! What a woman, full of great stories and lot’s of fun!GG quickly and skillfully makes balls out of the fish with her daughter and granddaughter’s help.Thank you so much to this amazing family for allowing me into your lives and kitchen to experience this event rich in culture and tradition! It was a great honor to be there!
If you and your family have something special you would love to have documented and preserved for generations to come, I’d be honored to help and join you with my camera!
